Davao City – The Land Transportation Office XI has announced the holding of a mandatory seminar for drivers who will renew their licenses to drive for a validity up to ten years.
Lawyer Loida Igdanes, spokesperson of the LTO XI told the Davao City Disaster Radio that based on Republic Act No. 10930, there will be strict issuance of drivers’ licenses of which the validity runs up to ten years.
She revealed that all driver’s license renewal must undergo a reorientation seminar starting this October.
“The four-hour reorientation course is needed for non-professional driver’s license while eight-hour reorientation course is required for holders of the professional driver’s license,” Igdanes said.
She said drivers have to comply the reorientation program dubbed as drivers’ enhancement program.
The LTO will partner with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in issuing certificates to the drivers.
She said the LTO XI is only waiting for the finalization of guidelines from the LTO national office.
Igdanes surmised that the month of September and October will be the renewal period for those who have initially availed of the five-year validity of their driver’s license.
She clarified that in the absence of the guideline, there is no four to eight-hour seminar requirement yet.
Igdanes also bared that based on Republic Act No. 11235, the LTO is dutybound to release two license plates for motorcycles.
She said a metal license plate will be attached on the front side while a decal plate with sticker will be attached at the rear of the motorcycle.
Igdanes revealed the law was created to prevent the use of motorcycles in committing a crime.
