EB Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon today said he is the official mayoralty bet of PDP-Laban in the town.

Malacon said he made the clarification following the claim of the camp of his opponent in the May election, Board Member and former Mayor David Lacson, that David is the party’s candidate for mayor.

Malacon showed proof that he is “the official candidate for mayor of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino- Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban)” in the town.

In a press conference yesterday, Malacon showed his Certification of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA), signed by Cong. Alfredo Benitez on Oct.12, 2018.

Lacson released a photo and spread on social media claiming that he was endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte during an event hosted by the Yanson family in Silay City.

“I wish to clarify to all Saraviahanons that I am the official candidate for mayor of PDP Laban in EB Magalona,” Malacon said.

“My documents will show who is telling the truth,” he said.

“The photo they are spreading proves nothing except a picture showing him and my godson with the President,” he said.

“Let us not confuse the people of EB Magalona by spreading pictures that prove nothing,” he added.

Malacon found an ally in Negros Occident Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Lacson, in a separate interview said, “For now it is a propaganda.”

The vice governor, a close friend of the Yanson family was at the event with Duterte.

Duterte even raised his (vice governor’s) hand as a symbol of endorsement.

Pressed if he saw or heard the President endorsing BM David who is a relative, Lacson said
“In fact, BM David’s camp is still seeking for the said endorsement either thruogh the raising of his hand or video message.”

Malacon said he is not bothered by the report, however he appealed to his close friend not to “sow confusion and misinformation in the municipality.(Arman Toga, NDB”*)
