Davao del Norte – Personnel of 89th Infantry (MAKATAO) Battalion led by 1LT. JOHN JAY L LARA (QMS) PA, CMO Officer, participated in the Tree Growing Activity in connection with Pre-celebration of “Araw ng Balagunan” held at So Campo, Brgy Balagunan, Sto Tomas, Davao Del Norte on 16 August 2020.
Hon. Ernesto “Tatay Erning” Evangelista, Mayor, Sto Tomas, LTC. ROLLY FIGUEROA CE (GSC) PA, Brigade Commander, 534th Engineering Battalion, Hon. Allan Magallanes, Brgy Captain, Brgy. Balagunan and Sto Tomas Trail Riders also participated in the event.
About 2,000 non-fruit bearing trees from MAGRO were planted at the hills of So Campo of said barangay as part of the joint effort of the community, LGU, army units, and other stakeholders in developing the area as one of the municipality’s Eco-Tourism destinations.
As part of the implementation of EO 70, institutionalizing the Whole of Nation Approach, Makatao Battalion will continuously advocate environmental protection and consciousness to preserve the natural resources in its AO at the same time promote and enhance the socio-economic programs in the IP communities.
