Lightning Kills One, Four Others Hurt In Zamboanga

A man was killed when a lightning struck in an east coast village in Zamboanga Monday afternoon, police report said.

The report claimed a lightning struck at Sitio Lower Tigbao, Brgy. Licomo, Monday afternoon killing one person and hurting four others. Licomo is the last barangay east of the city and about 85 kilometers from downtown Zamboanga.

The report identified the fatality as certain Rodericko Guzman Dela Cruz, 25 years old, male, single, resident of Lower Tigbao Brgy. Licomo. Dela Cruz was declare dead on arrival by attending physician, Dr. Fernando G. Jestoso  at Jestoso Clinic in Vitali, Zamboanga City.

The report also identified the four wounded as Aidarud Dela Cruz 26, male, married, Lower Tigbao, Brgy. Licomo, Leo Digario Diaz Jalao 38, male, single resident of Sinoropa, Ronnel Cuartocruz Delos Reyes 29 years old., male, married resident of Lower Tigbao, Licomo, Zamboanga City, and Jessico Dela Merced y Atilano  46 years old, male, Lower Tigbao, Licomo Zamboanga City.

Initial investigation disclosed the victims sought shelter under a mango tree due to heavy rains when the lightning struck hitting them.

The report claimed Rodericko Guzman Dela Cruz was declared on arrival while the four other were treated at the said clinic. (Zamboanga City Police Report)
