Larger than Life Lantern Parade takes over Iriga city

Larger than life lantern parade took over the streets of Iriga City as it kick off the most festive season of the year this December 1.

Streets of the city came alive with a colorful procession of lanterns of every shape and size as participants paraded their designed lanterns, creating a breathtaking events to the people.

According to Mayor Rex he remembered that as a child growing up in Iriga City, there used to be a lantern parade with lanterns made of colorful Japanese papers in the city. He used to be one of the bystanders, armed with small balls, hitting the paper lanterns and creating patterns of holes. It brings him the joy to revive this old tradition and witness it evolve into a celebration that embraces our rich cultural heritage and become one of the best tourism events.

In his message, he thanked Cong. Migz Villafuerte for gracing the event with his presence and for always being so supportive of the programs of the city.

Government employees, private individuals, city officials, and representatives from various sectors took part in this event that promised to become an annual tradition.
