A 4 year old child was attacked by a King Cobra (BANAKON) somewhere at a corn field located at Barangay Malagos, Baguio District.
At about 8:50 AM of March 9, 2020 Mrs. Arlen Upla, the mother of the victim, presently residing at Purok 1-A, Sitio Macatabo, Barangay Carmen, Baguio District, Davao City, reported to the Police station that on March 8, 2020, at 11:30 AM, while they were busy harvesting crops at the corn field owned by Mr. Latayan at Purok 4, Barangay Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City her 4-year-old daughter told her that she was bitten by a grayish black snake believed to be a King Cobra locally known as “Banakon”.
Accordingly, during the said incident, Argie Hermoginez, the grandmother of the victim heard her shouting/crying and subsequently complained that she was indeed bitten by a snake.
The former hurriedly came to the aid of her granddaughter and upon reaching at the place where she was, she saw the snake heading toward the road drainage and disappeared. After the incident, the victim was brought to Isaac T Robillo Hospital at Brgy. Calinan, but unfortunately she succumbed to the poisonous venom and thereafter was declared dead on arrival by her attending Physician.
Cadaver of the victim now lies at Angel Funeral Parlor at Calinan Disctrict, Davao City.
