
FORMER basketball association president Godofredo “Freddie” Jalasco was unanimously elected president by the 15-member board of trustees of the Wushu Federation Philippines (WFP).
Jalasco was the federation vice president and executive director before his asencion to the presidency. He is the first non-Chinese speaking sportsman to head the 32-year-old governing body of the sport that evolved from Chinese martial arts dating back 2,000 years.
Reelected to their respective positions were chairman Jimmy Tan, executive vice president Eddy Tanteko and secretary general Julian Camacho.
Ice Skating Union secretary general Benito Lim was also elected vice chairmanship, along with Anna Gan as first vice president, Ronald Ong as second vice president and Bobby Hongliangyi as treasurer.
Jimmy Ong, Samson Co, Tansuitong Candelaria, Lily Lim, Willy Wang, Ellen Ang and Richa Fernandez were elected to the board.
Philippine Olympic Committee general manager Dinah Remolacio observed the virtual final phase of the WFP’s two-step elections.
