The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region V—Camarines Sur recently joined the “Fake N’ Facts Launching and Forum: A Multi-Sectoral Group Against Fake News,” held at the Alingal Multipurpose Hall, Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU). Spearheaded by the Naga City People’s Council (NCPC), the event featured expert speakers and fostered crucial discussions on combating misinformation and disinformation.
The “Fake N’ Facts” launch and forum convened various stakeholders to address the pressing issue of fake news. Speakers Mr. Van Joseph Martinez, Mr. Aunell Ross Angcos, and Mr. Justine Romero provided valuable insights into the power of social media and its role in spreading misinformation.
Participants learned the detrimental effects of false information and explored strategies, including the use of AI against trolls, to combat its spread. The DICT Region V’s participation reaffirmed the government’s commitment to digital literacy and fact-checking.
At the event’s conclusion, several stakeholders signed a pledge of commitment to become “fact checkers” in future endeavors. The DICT Region V—Camarines Sur expressed sincere gratitude to the Naga City People’s Council, ADNU, BISCAST, and all other stakeholders for their invaluable contributions in making the event a success.
