To strengthen the Department’s records management and enhance digital document tracking, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol conducted a three-day training workshop on the Enhanced Document Action Tracking System (EDATS) and Digital Records Handling on July 15 to 17, 2025 at the DENR 5 Hamada Hall, Regional Center Site, Rawis, Legazpi City.
The training aimed to equip records officers from the DENR Bicol regional and field offices with the necessary skills and knowledge to efficiently manage records in the digital age. It also served as a platform to standardize processes, promote accountability and ensure prompt delivery of public service through proper document handling and tracking.
In his message, DENR Bicol OIC, Assistant Regional Director for Management Services (ARD-MS) Ronnel B. Astor highlighted the importance of efficient records management in the day-to-day operations. “This training will serve as a guide in establishing proper systems for handling office documents. It will help ease the tasks of records officers’ and ensure that they manage their responsibilities with care and efficiency,” he said.
The training workshop was spearheaded by the Administrative Division through its Human Resource Development Section (HRDS) in collaboration with learning service providers from the DENR Central and Regional Office. Topics discussed include key Information Systems on Records Management such as the Enhanced Document Action Tracking System (EDATS), Records Management Information System (RMIS), DENR Databank and DENR Client Document Tracking System (DCDTS).
The DENR Bicol Regional Executive Director (RED) Francisco E. Milla Jr. emphasized the role of digital systems in public service. “We have to shift from being reactive to being strategic. EDATS empowers you to track with precision, manage with consistency, respond and deliver with integrity. We do not just improve our operations, we rebuild public trust in government,” RED Milla said.###
