Initiated by Action Against Hunger Philippines (AAH) and funded by UNICEF, in partnership with local partner CDP Foundation and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur through EDMERO, a Training of Trainers (TOT) on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Emergencies and Disasters has been organized for selected high-risk local government units (LGUs) in the province. The training was held from February 27 to March 1, 2025, at Villa Caceres Hotel, Naga City.
This initiative aims to enhance the capacities of WASH Cluster members to ensure the continuity and sustainability of essential WASH services during emergencies and disasters.
At its core, WASH in disaster response seeks to reduce the risk of disease transmission by ensuring access to safe water, proper sanitation, and the promotion of hygiene practices. In this training, participants gained essential knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill their roles in emergency response, with a particular focus on WASH governance in the context of public health, disaster response, and recovery efforts.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Action Against Hunger (AAH) for spearheading this initiative, to UNICEF for its invaluable support, and to CDP Foundation for its partnership.
Most importantly, we commend all participants for their active engagement and commitment to strengthening WASH governance for safer and healthier communities in Camarines Sur.
