The Municipality of Tiwi in the province of Albay has officially been declared drug-cleared following the recent deliberations of the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) held on November 20, 2025, at about 9:00 am, via Zoom meeting at the SB Hall, Municipality of Tiwi.

This milestone comes after a rigorous validation process conducted by the committee, composed of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Health (DOH). The declaration affirms that all barangays in Tiwi have complied with the requirements set under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.

The Tiwi Municipal Police Station (MPS), in close coordination with PDEA and other partner agencies, continues to work relentlessly toward clearing any remaining drug-affected areas. These efforts support the government’s holistic campaign to achieve a drug-free Bicol Region, emphasizing not only law enforcement but also community rehabilitation, prevention, and reintegration programs.

The declaration of Tiwi as a drug-cleared municipality marks a significant achievement, but local authorities stress that it is not the end of the journey. Instead, it serves as a call for sustained community vigilance and continued inter-agency collaboration to ensure that Tiwi maintains its drug-free status.
