Quoting this powerful verse from the Bible, Mayor Rex C. Oliva captured the profound transformation of Sitio San Jose in Brgy. Antipolo as the City Government of Iriga, in partnership with the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Philippines, launched the 62nd All-Lights Village today, April 23, 2026.
The day began at Antipolo Integrated School with a formal program and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Mayor Rex C. Oliva signed on behalf of the City, alongside Ms. Jocelyn Remigio, GPF Philippines Program Director for Community Development. They were joined by members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, city and barangay officials, and various stakeholders committed to this three-year community empowerment project.
Inspirational messages of hope and support were shared by Ms. Priscilla C. Saladaga, CESE (Division Chief, DSWD 4Ps RPMO), representing DSWD RFOV Regional Director Norman S. Laurio; Ms. Marie Beatrice Mendoza, MBA (Operations Director, Bless Microfinance Corporation); Ms. Zarina San Andres (Regional Planning Office, NCIP Region V); and Mr. Kier Aventurado (GPF Philippines Program Director for Youth Development), representing Executive Director Dir. Leonard T. Faustino.
During the program, officials led the Unveiling of the Partnership Marker, a pedestal that serves as a lasting symbol of the collaboration between the LGU and its partners. To ensure the project’s sustainability in the sitio, the City Government provided vital counterpart support, including the installation of 10 lamp posts and logistical assistance.
The gathering concluded with the highlight of the day: the Ceremonial Turnover and Distribution of 100 solar lanterns and 10 solar streetlights. For the 100 partner-beneficiaries from this off-grid community, these lamps bring more than just electricity—they bring safety, hope, and a renewed sense of security.
In his address, Mayor Rex C. Oliva expressed his deep gratitude to GPF Philippines, Bless Microfinance Corporation, and the DSWD. He emphasized that by bringing “light” to Sitio San Jose, the city is fostering “family transformation”—giving children a better environment to study at night and providing families the tools to build a more resilient and self-reliant future.
This milestone is a testament to what we can achieve through faith and collaboration, ensuring that every corner of Iriga is illuminated with hope.
