Renewable energy is being promoted in Albay as a practical strategy to reduce electricity costs and support local economic growth.

Rosemarie Quinto-Rey, President and CEO of Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Inc. and convenor of the Albay RE Alliance, said shifting to clean energy can help institutions and businesses significantly lower their power expenses.

Quinto-Rey cited the ongoing solarification project of Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Inc., which is generating nearly ₱50,000 in monthly savings on electricity bills while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

She said initiatives like the project demonstrate how renewable energy can deliver both economic and environmental benefits, particularly as power costs continue to rise.

Quinto-Rey also highlighted the Albay Renewable Energy Roadmap as a strategy to attract investments, reduce operational costs, and strengthen long-term economic resilience in the province.

With an estimated 1,250 megawatts of renewable energy potential, Albay is positioning itself to develop more cost-efficient and sustainable energy systems for businesses and communities.
