Camp Miranda, Camarines Sur — The Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) joins the Police Regional Office 5 in honoring PSSg Noli M. Miraña of the San Jose Municipal Police Station, who was conferred the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting in recognition of his courage, gallantry, and selfless dedication to duty after sustaining serious injuries while responding to a police assistance call.
On August 24, 2026, PBGEN Ronaldo I. Fulo, Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PRO 5, representing PBGEN Erosito N. Miranda, Regional Director, PRO 5, personally visited PSSg Miraña at the Bicol Medical Center, Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City, Camarines Sur, to extend the organization’s support and concern following the incident.
PSSg Miraña, who served as Team Leader of the responding team of the San Jose MPS, was wounded on August 22, 2026, while responding to a call for assistance from a concerned citizen regarding an individual with a mental health condition reportedly causing a disturbance in Zone 1, Barangay Calalahan, San Jose, Camarines Sur.
While attempting to negotiate and peacefully resolve the situation, PSSg Miraña was suddenly attacked by the suspect, who was armed with a bolo. The assault resulted in a serious injury to his right face and the total severance of his left hand.
Despite the sudden and life-threatening attack, PSSg Miraña displayed exceptional courage, presence of mind, and unwavering commitment to his sworn duty. His actions enabled his fellow police officers to immediately intervene and prevent the suspect from causing further harm to other members of the community.
PSSg Miraña remains under medical observation at the Bicol Medical Center following a successful surgical procedure to reattach his severed left hand. He continues to receive medical care as he begins his journey toward recovery.
During the visit, PBGEN Fulo conveyed the appreciation and well-wishes of PBGEN Miranda and the entire PRO 5 family, commending PSSg Miraña for his bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty. He likewise assured the wounded police officer and his family that the organization will continue to provide the necessary support and assistance throughout his recovery.
PSSg Miraña’s heroism serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and dedication embodied by every police officer who chooses to stand between danger and the people they have sworn to protect. His sacrifice exemplifies the enduring commitment of the Philippine National Police to serve with courage, compassion, and honor.
“Ang tunay na kabayanihan ay nasusukat sa kahandaang harapin ang panganib para sa kaligtasan ng iba. Ang katapangan at sakripisyo ni PSSg Miraña ay inspirasyon sa buong Kaogma Cops at patunay ng
marangal na panunumpa ng isang pulis—ang maglingkod at magprotekta sa kabila ng anumang panganib.”
