Iriga: PRO5 nets 5 drug violators, seized P516k of “shabu”

Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City — Five individuals were arrested in the buy-bust operations launched by Police Regional Office 5 on August 20, 2024.

During the three separate operations, the operating team seized a total of 76 grams of suspected “shabu,” with an estimated street value of P516,800.

One significant operation led to the arrest of a suspect known as “Alias Meo,” who was caught selling 51 grams of shabu to a police poseur buyer during an entrapment operation conducted by Nabua MPS at around 2:20 PM in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Nabua. The seized drugs, contained in three plastic sachets, have an estimated value of PhP346,800.00. Additionally, a .22 caliber revolver, TM Sentinel without a serial number, and five live rounds of ammunition were confiscated from the suspect.

Subsequently, another operation in Calabanga resulted in the apprehension of a high-value target identified as “Joyie,” who was maintaining a drug den in Barangay Sibobo. She was arrested along with her accomplices, “Vin” and “El,” both classified as street-level individuals. The joint operation, conducted by PDEA Camarines Sur and Calabanga MPS at around 5:25 PM, led to the seizure of 15 grams of shabu valued at PhP102,000.00.

In a separate operation in Naga City, another street-level individual, “Canoy,” was accosted by the combined forces of CPDEU, PS2, CIU, and CMFC of Naga City Police Office at around 7:00 PM. The suspect was found in possession of 12 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 10 grams, with an estimated value of PhP68,000.00.

All suspects were duly informed of their constitutional rights and are set to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

These operations were the result of extensive surveillance conducted by PNP Bicol, in coordination with PDEA, following reports of the suspects’ involvement in illegal drug activities.

He further emphasized that the momentum of these operations will continue, with a focus not only on police actions but also on strengthening police-community relations to build stronger ties with the community as part of the PNP’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in the region.
