Iriga: PNP Bicol and Philippine Army, successfully dissuades nefarious acts of NPA in Camarines Sur

The strong collaborative efforts of Police Regional Office 5 with the Philippine Army paid off by successfully dissuading nefarious acts of NPA through the help of the community.

On March 30, 2023, the combined personnel of the 501ST Maneuver Company, RMFB5; Charlie Coy, 49IB, 97 MICO, 9MIB immediately launched operation against the rebel group after the information received from a concerned citizen pertaining their presence near school premises at Brgy. Caorasan, Bula, Camarines Sur

During the operation, government troops encountered more or less 15 NPA members. The Armed confrontation lasted for 20 minutes with no casualty on the operating team while undetermined on the enemy side.

Recovered at the encounter site were anti-personal mines; two Analog phones; one magazine; 14 rounds of live ammunition; 12 fired cartridge cases for caliber 5.56; one jungle back pack; subversive documents; and assorted personal belongings.

PNP Bicol under the leadership of PBGEN WESTRIMUNDO D OBINQUE, RD, closely coordinates with the Philippine Army headed by MGEN ADONIS BAJAO, Commander, 9th Infantry ID, to further strengthen its efforts to effectively thwart possible attacks of NPA that threatens lives, property and the overall security in the community.

The unit also urged members of the NPA to surrender to authorities before it’s too late. Likewise, it shall continue to conduct the Retooled Community Support Program to persuade them to renounce the armed movement and instead join the government in making Bicol a better place to live, work and do business.
