The Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) will allocate 25 million pesos to expand the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO).
The funding will be used to acquire a one-hectare parcel of land, which will be developed into a logistics hub for the PEO.
This facility will house disaster risk reduction (DRR) equipment and support disaster preparedness efforts, including the prepositioning of relief goods.
The lot, located adjacent to the PEO compound in Salugan, Camalig, Albay, has been appraised at 2,500 pesos per square meter, a price that the Provincial Assessor’s Office (PAssO) has confirmed is fair and reasonable.
During a committee hearing chaired by 1st District Board Member Atty. Sheina Marie Onrubia-Dela Cruz, it was also revealed that the PEO had previously purchased a property from the same owner in 2020 without issue.
This new acquisition responds to a request from APSEMO officer-in-charge and Provincial Engineer Dante B. Baclao, who highlighted the need for more space to accommodate PGA assets and DRR initiatives, especially during times of calamity.
