
Around 150 Reverend Fathers from across the Archdiocese of Caceres gathered at the Miraculous Medal Church for the Caceres Clergy Assembly, presided over by His Excellency, Most Reverend Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, Archbishop of Caceres.
Guests were welcomed by the Miraculous Medal Church Parish Priest and host of the gathering, Rev. Fr. Joven Abaño.
Mayor Rex C. Oliva was invited to deliver a message during the assembly. Representing the Mayor, Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat addressed the clergy and presented the City Government’s accomplishments and initiatives in support of the religious sector.
In the Mayor’s message, he highlighted the strong partnership between the Church and the local government, emphasizing that while Church and State have distinct roles, they share a common goal of serving the people and strengthening communities.
The Mayor also pointed out the alignment between the Archdiocese’s thrust, “Gabos Kaayon, Gabós may Gibúhon” (Everyone Belongs and Everyone Has a Vital Role), and Iriga City’s governance mantra, “Uda Matagak, Uda Mawatak” (No one is left behind). He stressed that both reflect inclusion, participation, and shared responsibility.
The Vice Mayor presented programs and projects that support churches, faith-based organizations, and various religious denominations in the city, underscoring the LGU’s continued assistance to activities that promote moral formation and community development.
The assembly opened with a Salubong performance by Santiago Integrated School through their Tinagba Festival Dance, warmly welcoming the Archbishop and members of the clergy.
The gathering strengthened unity among the priests and highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the Archdiocese of Caceres and the City Government of Iriga in serving God and the people.
