The National Basketball League (NBL) Youth Region V formally opened its games last August 10, 2025 at the Iriga City Sports Center in Sta. Cruz Sur, Iriga City.
Mayor Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva attended the opening ceremony, voicing his support for Irigueño athletes and recognizing the contributions of Governor Lray Villafuerte, Congressman Migz Villafuerte, and Congressman Luigi Villafuerte in advancing grassroots sports programs in the region.
The event was also attended by Vice Mayor Edsel C. Dimaiwat, City Administrator Atty. Maharlika Ramon Oaferina II, City Councilors Jeff B. Tino, Jor-El O. Caayao, Nikki C. Lagrimas, Dandreb N. Abonite, and Melnan R. Murallo-Asanza, as well as Engr. Solomon Ngo, CamSur Express Team Governor and founder of the Go Kim Ta Basketball Club.
The tournament aims to provide young athletes a platform to showcase their skills, strengthen camaraderie, and promote sportsmanship across Bicol.
