Iriga: Ligao wins Regional MMK, receives 2M

The City of Ligao was proclaimed the regional winner of the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources’ (DA-BFAR) 2022 Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) Search for Outstanding Coastal Community.

BFAR Bicol handed over a P2 million cheque and a plaque of recognition to the Local Government Unit of Ligao in an awarding ceremony Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Conference Room, Office of the Mayor, Ligao City Hall.

National Director Atty. Demosthenes R. Escoto, together with RD Ariel U. Pioquinto and Fisherfolk Director Pedro P. Creo, led the awarding. City Mayor Fernando V. Gonzalez received the award with other LGU officials.

Director Escoto commended Ligao City for being a reliable partner in the conservation of marine and coastal resources. Mayor Gonzalez on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to BFAR for its continuous support to the city.

Further, Nazario Briguera, BFAR CO Information Officer, Atty. Nilo Consuelo, Chief, BFAR 5 FPSSD, Junalin Barcellano, Chief, FMRED, Alvin Christopher Lat, Albay Provincial Fisheries Officer, Vice Mayor Jaypee David, other LGU Department Heads and BFAR 5 key officials graced the activity.
