Today, September 28, 2024, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol took part in the orientation seminar on Educational Assistance at the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP), San Roque, Iriga City, Camarines Sur.
The event, titled “𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱,” was organized to provide valuable information on common issues and concerns regarding scholarships and educational grants. One of the key topics discussed by the speakers was the duplication of benefits provided by government agencies.
During the seminar, Ms. Janet Bonaobra, Project Development Officer II for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program at the Iriga City Satellite Office, introduced DSWD’s programs and services to the student attendees, with a focus on Educational Assistance. She also explained the necessary requirements and qualifications for the program.
Mr. Elmer H. Lolin, Dean of UNEP’s College of Business Education, emphasized that the participation of DSWD Bicol and other government agencies would help inform both school administrators and students. He further highlighted that the discussions would help students, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds, learn about the various programs and services offered by government agencies that could assist them with their needs.
This activity reaffirms DSWD Bicol’s commitment to supporting the poor and marginalized sectors, including students in crisis.
