Iriga: DOH Bicol holds training on health information system for UHC implementation sites

    The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) conducted the Technical Orientation and Process Walkthrough on Local Health Systems Maturity Levels (LHS ML) Indicators for Province and City-Wide Health Systems (P/CWHS) Characteristics on Info1: Information Management System (IMS) on March 18-21, 2025 in Legazpi City.

    Present were Ms. Cherrie Esteban, OIC-Director III/Chief eHealth Systems Division, Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (KMITS), Mr. John Ulysses Galo, OIC-Division Chief, KMITS, staff from DOH Bicol CHD Information and Communication Technology and Strategic Management for Health Development Division, Provincial Health Offices, Provincial DOH Offices and UHC Point Persons.

    Mr. Dante F. Atento, Management Support Division Head of DOH Bicol CHD, said that an efficient Information Health System aims to centralize patient and health care data, automate administrative tasks, and help implementers identify problems and make evidence-based solutions.

    Mr. John Jemar Estrada, Computer Maintenance Technologist III of DOH Bicol presented the 2024 Bicol Region LHS ML Info 1 Status where he congratulated the Province of Sorsogon for achieving 100% of the Key Result Area (KRA) indicators for a functional UHC Integration Site (UHC IS).

    Further, Mr. Estrada encouraged other provinces to strengthen efforts to accomplish their remaining KRAs.

    Mr. Jonathan Rey M. Cabrera of KMITS discussed the Information Management System Assessment and Needs Analysis (IMSANA). He said that the IMSANA will help implementers track the progress of UHC integration in their sites.

    The KMITS also discussed the LHS ML Info1 Monitoring Toolkit, which encapsulates the process walkthrough in the accomplishment of the templates, tools, and guides for the Means of Verification of the UHC Integration Sites.

    The LHS ML is a framework used to monitor the progress of local health systems integration into P/CWHS as stipulated in the Universal Health Care Act.
