The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development deployed an additional of fourteen (14) Doctors to the Barrio (DTTBs) to its partner Local Government Units on February 17, 2025.
DOH Bicol CHD Assistant Regional Director Dr. Rosa Maria B. Rempillo emphasized the critical role of DTTBs in understanding the unique health needs of each community.
Dr. Rempillo stressed the importance of strengthening the local health workforce in rural and hard-to-reach areas through the DTTB program.
The recipient LGUs are as follows (1 DTTB assigned per LGU):
1. Guinobatan, Albay
2. Malinao, Albay
3. Vinzons, Camarines Norte
4. Iriga City, Camarines Sur
5. Lagonoy, Camarines Sur
6. Libmanan, Camarines Sur
7. San Jose, Camarines Sur
8. Tigaon, Camarines Sur
9. Virac, Catanduanes
10. Baleno, Masbate
11. Balud, Masbate
12. Palanas, Masbate
13. Cawayan, Masbate
14. Mandaon, Masbate
The DTTB program of the Department of Health was created in 1993 to address the lack of doctors practicing in rural communities in the Philippines.
The municipal mayors and their representatives signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the DOH Bicol CHD for their continued partnership and support in strengthening the delivery of health services especially in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas. (DOH5/MDUB)
