The final leg of the provincial roadshows for the Bicol Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 saw a notable attendance by key officials, including the DILG Region V Regional Director and Regional Plan Advocacy Committee (RPAC) Vice-Chairperson Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, Jr., CESO V and DILG Camarines Sur Provincial Director Julius Rodel L. Cal-Ortiz, CESO V. The event, held at the Fuerte CamSur Sports Complex, Pili, Camarines Sur was marked by heightened anticipation and unexpected twists that have left political and community leaders buzzing with speculation.

The roadshow, which is part of a series of engagements aimed at gathering public input and refining the Bicol RDP 2023-2028, drew a diverse audience such as the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, LCEs, C/MPDCs, CSOs, media practitioners and resource persons. The goal of these roadshows has been to ensure that the development plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the local population while aligning with broader regional and national objectives over the next six years.

PD Cal-Ortiz echoed these sentiments in his discussion of the event’s rationale, highlighting the progress made throughout the series of roadshows. “Today’s event is the culmination of months of consultation and dialogue. We have seen tremendous engagement from all sectors, which is a testament of bringing the Bicol RDP 2023-2028 closer to the people.” PD Cal-Ortiz said.

Specifically, the roadshow aimed to deepen the appreciation and understanding of the Bicol RDP 2023-2028 and the Ambisyon Natin 2040 and encourage participation of all stakeholders in the Plan’s implementation through strengthened partnerships and linkages.

The final roadshow featured presentations on the proposed development initiatives, including infrastructure projects, economic growth strategies, and social programs. Attendees were given the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions, fostering a dynamic discussion on the priorities and challenges facing the region.

The insights gained from the final roadshow will be integrated into the Bicol RDP 2023-2028. The plan aims to address key issues such as economic development, infrastructure improvement, and social services, ensuring a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to regional progress.
