Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co gave P10 million to the Philippine National Police (PNP) as he lauded the agency for putting an end to the notorious Concepcion Criminal Group.
Co, who also sits as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said the Concepcion gang’s leader is one of the country’s most wanted criminals. The crime group has been “terrorizing the Bicol Region and other areas of the country for the longest time,” he said.
“Malaking bagay po ang pagka-neutralize ng Concepcion Gang. Matagal na po naming pino-problema ‘yan, and I promised to give 10 million pesos out of my own pocket for the capture of this criminal and terrorist group,” Co said.
Following intense surveillance and investigation, police operatives killed Gilbert Saysay Concepcion, also known as “Bert” or “Pogi,” the leader of the lawless organization, and Laeco Josie Quite Saysay, also known as “Lay,” a member of the group, during an armed encounter on January 24 at Barangay San Martin De Porres, Parañaque City.
The Concepcion Criminal Group has been engaged in various criminal activities, including assassinations, extortion, and illegal arms trade.
Co said the break-up of the organized crime group by the PNP underscores the competence, perseverance, and courage of the involved police personnel.
“The dismantling of the Concepcion Criminal Group signifies a monumental win for the PNP and the broader quest for peace and order in the entire country,” Co said during the PNP flag-raising ceremony on Monday, where the legislator was invited as guest of honor.
“Ang pagkapaslang kay Gilbert Concepcion, leader ng notorious na Concepcion Criminal Group, ay nagpapakita ng kakayahan ng ating mga pulis sa pagsawata sa organized crime networks at sa pagprotekta sa ating mga mamamayan.”
“Ang ibinigay nating reward ay bilang pagkilala sa kabayanihan ng mga pulis na handang ialay ang kanilang buhay para lamang siguraduhin ang kaligtasan ng taumbayan. Our police officers’ bravery and sacrifices, who confront dangers to protect us, are deeply appreciated,” Co added.
