Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Vice President Robert Uy, together with representatives of the Iloilo Filipino-Chinese Basketball Association (IFCBA) Elite, paid a courtesy call on Iriga City Mayor Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva on August 21, 2026. Uy, who also serves as the SBP Board’s Visayas representative, led the delegation in a visit that highlighted continuing efforts to strengthen basketball ties and promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among basketball communities.

Following the courtesy call at the Iriga City Hall, the delegation proceeded to the Go Kim Ta Memorial Basketball Court in Barangay San Nicolas for an exhibition game against Pade Pade Soven, featuring matchups in the 40-Up and 50-Up categories.

Engagements of this kind open the door for Iriga City to host future basketball exchanges, tournaments, and training opportunities that benefit local athletes and give young players exposure to wider competitive circles. Exhibition games such as this also give local teams and fans a chance to engage directly with visiting basketball communities, strengthening the city’s sports culture and providing constituents more avenues for athletic engagement and community building through sports.

The City Government of Iriga congratulates the Iloilo Filipino-Chinese Basketball Association-Elite and welcomes initiatives that foster friendship, sports development, and greater collaboration through basketball.
