The City Government of Iriga opened the week with a strong display of accomplishment as various LGU offices received major regional awards for excellence, innovation, and dedicated public service. The recognitions reflect the city’s steady progress in governance, preparedness, and community development.
During the flag-raising ceremony, the Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led the program. The prayer was delivered by Hon. Margarita B. Cabria, IPMR, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem conducted by Councilor Melnan R. Murallo-Asanza. Councilor Jeff B. Tino led the Panunumpa sa Watawat, while Councilor N. Dandreb Abonite led the Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan. The program was hosted by Councilor Jor-El O. Caayao.
Afterwards, Vice Mayor Edsel Dimaiwat shared that the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Iriga City was named Regional Finalist in the Component City Category of the 2025 Local Legislative Award. The recognition highlights the Council’s outstanding legislative performance, innovations, and best practices that have strengthened policy development and institutional governance. The award was presented on December 5, 2025 in Legazpi City, Albay.
Iriga City also received a Plaque of Recognition from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Region V for achieving a rating of 2.70 in the Regional Assessment for Local DRRM Councils and Offices for 2025. This distinction commends the city’s commitment to disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and resilience. The award was received by Councilor Murallo-Asanza and LDRRMO Jasmin B. Botor during the ceremony held in Legazpi City on December 5, 2025.
Adding to the list of achievements, the Cooperative Development Authority Region V Extension Office conferred a Plaque of Recognition to the city for its strong support and active involvement in advancing cooperative development programs for 2025. The award was presented during the CDA Regional Stakeholders Awarding Ceremony held in Naga City.
In his message, Mayor Rex C. Oliva expressed his appreciation to all LGU departments for their dedication in elevating the city’s performance in governance, cooperative empowerment, and disaster resilience. He emphasized that the recognitions reflect the collective hard work of Irigueños in building a progressive and people centered city. He also acknowledged the success of recent community activities, including the Lantern Parade, Adopt a Tree Program, Arriba Iriga Christmas Run, Mobile Blood Donation, and Lactation Management Training, which all showcased unity, volunteerism, and civic pride.
Iriga City remains committed to meaningful governance, community driven initiatives, and sustained resilience as it continues to move forward with the spirit of Arriba Iriga.
