The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur through its Public Employment Service Office (Camsur Peso), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) – South Luzon, successfully concluded the Learning Session for OFW Children Circle on March 17, 2026, at Pamplona National High School in Pamplona, Camarines Sur.
A total of 52 OFW children from Grades 8 to 12 attended the session, where resource speakers addressed a range of relevant topics—from coping with the challenges of migration and family separation to exploring career options and understanding how parental absence can influence life decisions. The session also covered anti-drug awareness and financial literacy, equipping the young participants with practical knowledge for their future.
This marked CamSur PESO’s second visit to the school. The first was held on February 18, 2025, under Project CAREER: Creating a Roadmap for Educational and Employment Readiness, where students gained valuable insights into career development and choosing their paths after graduation.”
Lenard O. Abes, a Grade 10 student, shared that his mother left for abroad when he was in Grade 3. Over the years, he learned to become independent, and through consistent communication, gradually adjusted to their situation.
“This program is very helpful, because many students and families have parents working in other countries. It helps us understand that our parents are making great sacrifices and fulfilling their responsibilities to give us a better life. So, to OWWA and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur — thank you for conducting this activity. It means a lot to us,” Abes said.
