In preparation for the expected influx of travelers during the Holy Week break, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (RDRRMOC) is raising its alert status to red.
The highest state of readiness will be in effect from March 31 to April 6.
In a memorandum, Claudio Yucot, Director of the Office of Civil Defense-Bicol and chairperson of the Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, said that all RDRRMOC counterparts in the provinces and associated agencies should also elevate their alert status to red as the Catholic faithful observe Lent next week.
He emphasized that agencies and local government units must ensure that response teams are prepared for deployment in case of any incidents.
Meanwhile, at least 500 personnel from the Coast Guard District Bicol will be stationed at seaports and coastal areas, according to Commodore Ivan Roldan, the district commander.
The Coast Guard District Bicol encourages travelers to follow maritime safety regulations, arrive early at ports, and coordinate with authorities to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel during Holy Week.
