Iriga: Bicol cops scored anew in anti-drug campaign, P2.24M narcotics net in operation

Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City – Driven with the strong desire to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Bicol region, Police Regional Office 5 achieved a significant breakthrough in its recent operation conducted last February 1, 2024.

Under the coordinated efforts of the Iriga City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office an operation was launched at around 1:51PM in Zone 3, Nakar St., Barangay San Isidro, Iriga City which resulted in the apprehension of two street-level individuals.

The suspects, identified by the aliases “Ren,” aged 45, and “Joe,” aged 43, both residents of Calamba, Laguna, were found in possession of 17 bricks of dried marijuana leaves, totaling approximately 17 kilograms, with an estimated value of PhP 2,040,000 along with 30 grams of “shabu” valued at PhP 204,000.00. All confiscated drug items has a cumulative value of P2,244,000.

The arrested individuals and the seized pieces of evidence were promptly brought to the Iriga CPS for proper handling and disposition while cases for violation of RA 9165 is being processed against the suspects.

Police Regional Office 5 headed by PBGEN ANDRE P DIZON, Regional Director, in tandem with its allied agencies, remains steadfast in its pursuit of a drug-free environment, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in the Bicol region.

This operation marks yet another milestone in the ongoing battle against illicit narcotics and reaffirms the dedication to fostering a secure and drug-free society for generations to come.
