The Provincial Government of Albay plans to expand the facilities of Pantao Port this year to strengthen its role in supporting agriculture, fisheries, and trade in the province.

The project is backed by a ₱500 million fund from the Department of Agriculture to improve port infrastructure and increase its capacity to handle agricultural products and other cargo.

The expansion is expected to make the port a more efficient gateway for farmers and fisherfolk transporting their goods to markets within and outside the province. Albay Governor Noel Ebriega Rosal said the project will also be complemented by improvements in nearby infrastructure, including farm-to-market roads connecting the port to the Maharlika Highway.

The upgrades aim to make the transport of agricultural products faster and more accessible for local producers.

Additional facility improvements are also being considered, including the possible construction of cold storage facilities and other support infrastructure to help maintain the quality of fishery and agricultural products.

The expansion is expected to boost economic activity and strengthen Albay’s role as a trading hub in the Bicol Region.
