Love continues to blossom as 29 couples exchanged vows in a heartfelt Kasalang Barangay ceremony held at Barangay Sta. Maria, bringing the total number of newlywed pairs under the City Government’s mass wedding initiative to 137 this year.

Officiated by Mayor Rex C. Oliva, the ceremony symbolizes the city’s commitment to promoting strong family foundations and legal unions among Irigueño couples.

The event was made possible through the Local Civil Registrar’s Office headed by Ms. Ma. Nancy R. Occiano, in partnership with the Barangay Sta. Maria Council led by Punong Barangay Melgar, and supported by the Sangguniang Kabataan officials.

The Kasalang Barangay program has already touched several Irigueño communities this year, starting on February 14 with 13 couples from Sto. Domingo, La Anunciacion, and San Ramon, followed by:

• 25 couples on April 5 in Santiago

• 27 couples on June 6 in Sta. Elena

• 19 couples on July 4 in San Roque

• 24 couples on July 26 in San Pedro

As part of the city’s continuing efforts to strengthen families and support newlyweds, each couple received a sack of rice and a ₱1,000 cash gift from the City Government of Iriga.

Mayor Oliva congratulated the couples for taking this significant step in their lives and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to helping build “families that are founded on love, respect, and responsibility.”

The Kasalang Barangay initiative remains a testament to the local government’s mission to promote the sanctity of marriage and nurture happy, stable families that contribute to the city’s growth and community spirit.
