This activity is in partnership with Newborn Screening Reference Center (NSRC), in coordination with the DOH Bicol CHD, through the Family Health Cluster-Newborn Screening Program.

A total of 34 patients, 31 of whom have Congenital Hypothyroidism and 3 with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, were assessed and evaluated by PSPME Specialists, Dr. Loran A. Abad and Dr. Susana P. Campos with the assistance of Dr. Michelle R. Semaña and nurse Honeychille R. Repane from BMC NBSCC. Through this activity, the patients were provided with consultation, health education, needed medications and support for their optimal growth.

The Expanded Newborn Screening (ENBS) aimed at the early identification and management of newborns affected with certain genetic/ metabolic conditions.

The DOH Bicol CHD encourages parents to have their newborn undergo the Expanded Newborn Screening 24 hours from birth at DOH licensed birthing facilities.
