Iloilo City – Another travel moratorium between Iloilo City and Negros Occidental has been requested before the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in an executive order he issued, sought the approval of RIATF of inbound and outbound travel moratorium, from Iloilo City to Negros Island, up to June 15.

This was after Treñas issued an EO extending the implementation of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine in Iloilo City, from June 1 to 15, unless extended or lifted earlier.

Treñas said the movement of cargoes in and out of Iloilo City to Negros Island is not covered by the temporary moratorium on travel. Entry and exit points to and from Iloilo City, by way of land, sea and air travel will also remain restricted, he added.

Exempted from the travel moratorium are returning overseas Filipino workers, locally stranded individuals, authorized persons outside residence, transport of goods and construction materials, those travelling for humanitarian purposes, to access government services, with medical needs, and for work.

The moratorium on the travel of persons between Iloilo City and Negros Occidental, and Dumangas, Iloilo to Negros Island, ended May 31, and normal port operations were supposed to resume June 1, as ordered by the RIATF. However, it was cancelled by the PCG after Signal No. 1 was raised over Iloilo and Negros due to Tropical Storm Dante. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
