In a move to prioritize the well-being of students by easing their discomfort caused by the hot weather, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) recently distributed more than 3,000 electric fans to schools divisions in the province.

This initiative of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc and the provincial government aims to address the adverse effects of high temperatures on students’ comfort and concentration during their studies, specifically during the summer season.

Five (5) million pesos was allocated for the procurement of electric fans. The Ilocos Norte Division received 2,219 units, while the City of Batac Division received 672 fans, and the Laoag City Division received 195 units. The distribution was based on each division’s specific requests in collaboration with the Department of Education.

“Though a bit delayed, pero mainit pa rin. And I believe this will be beneficial for our students. We hope they will take good care of the fans para magtagal,” expressed Governor Marcos Manotoc during the distribution.

He also reassured that the provincial government will continue to provide support to schools through the utilization of the Special Education Fund.
