Zamboanga City – 100-year old Angelina Santos from barangay Cabatangan receives her cash incentive from Mayor Beng Climaco in recognition of her contributions to the society.
The grant of the incentives is provided under City Ordinance 459 as amended by Ordinance 539 otherwise known as the Octogenarian and Nonagenarian Benefits for Senior Citizens of Zamboanga City.
Under the ordinance, a centenarian will receive ₱ 50,000 as cash incentive which is the city government’s counterpart to the incentives granted by the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) based on RA 10868 as a way of honoring and recognizing the contributions of senior citizens to the society.
Lola Angelina received ₱ 30,000, the balance from the ₱ 50,000 incentive. She received the ₱ 20,000 last July 8, 2021 by virtue of Ordinance 539. She turned 100 years old last August 1. She is also expected to receive ₱ 100,000 from the DSWD.
The grant of the incentives is facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWDO) and the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs. The mayor was assisted by Councilor Josephine Pareja during the handover of the incentive.
