Bacolod City – The cases of the coronavirus infection in Bacolod City declined by 44 percent, executive director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center said recently.
Ang said this is based on a two-week growth rate that is part of the gateway parameter of the National Inter-Agency Task Force in determining the community quarantine of an area.
She said the decline triggered the city’s re-classification, from moderate to low-risk area, by the Department of Health Region 6.
Ang added that this means that Bacolod will be able to retain its present quarantine status of Modified General Community Quarantine for next month.
Its isolation and hospital facilities can still accommodate patients, Ang said.
The Covid-19 bed utilization rates of seven hospitals in Bacolod are between 50 to 60 percent with half of the patients from out-of-town, she said.
Meanwhile, the 3,000 doses of China-made Sinovac vaccine for Bacolod City that arrived yesterday were part of the allocation of the DOH to Western Visayas.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia had requested the national government to allocate more vaccines for Bacolod, citing the urgent need to inoculate more residents amid the spike in local cases. As of May 14, the EOC and the Covid-19 Vaccination Council have administered a total of 16,706 doses of vaccine to Bacolodnons.
