Tiniyak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na may mangyayaring eleksyon sa susunod na taon.
Sa kanyang naging talumpati sa Change of Command ng Philippine Army sa Fort Bonifacio Taguig City, sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na magiging honest o tapat ang idadaos na halalan.
Iginiit ng Pangulo, walang gagamiting pondo ng gobyerno sa mga kandidato ng mga administrasyon kahit kay dating Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Bong Go na naghain na ng kandidatura para sa pagka-senador.
“I will announce to the country now that we make a pledge, there will be an election and it will be an honest one. Nobody but nobody can use government resources, not even Bong. I will not allow it. As a friend, I can invite him but he should not. Of course, I will campaign for my candidates eh wala pa naman akong slate so hanggang diyan lang tayo.” Pahayag ni Duterte.
Kasabay nito, hiningi ni Pangulong Duterte ang pagtitiyak mula sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) para sa isang maayos at mapayapang eleksyon.
Binalaan din nito ang mga miyembro ng AFP at PNP laban sa pagsali at pagkampanya sa mga politiko.
“Let us make a deal here, promise. I make a commitment to the Filipino people. This election strictly neutral tayong lahat. The Armed Forces, police and the uniform personnel of government I am asking you not to indulge in partisan politics wala tayong susuportahan. Yung mga kandidato ko ako lang because this is political position. But I expect everybody to respect that constitutional provision.” Ani Duterte.
