
THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 74 fireworks-related injuries (FWRI) as of January 1, 2023.
According to the DOH, the total number of cases recorded is 211, higher by 16 percent as compared to the 182 cases recorded in the same period last year from Dec. 21,2021 to Jan. 2, 2022.
Earlier, the DOH said that males aged 10-14 years old were the most affected group.
The hand and eye were the most affected anatomic areas which can lead to permanent disability.
Both Boga, which is illegal, and kwitis considered as legal fireworks have caused injuries.
