DOH reports 18,449 new Covid cases on Monday

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday night reported a total of 18,449 additional cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,509,177.

There were also 21,811 recoveries and 93 deaths logged.

The DOH said that it will report backlog deaths in separate advisories after no deaths were reported from September 24 to September 26.

Of the total number of cases, 6.3 percent (158,169) have died, 92.2 percent (2,313,412) have recovered, and 1.50 percent (37,494) have died.

Of the 18,449 reported cases , 17,953 (97 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days (September 14 – September 27, 2021).

The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were National Capital Region (3,060 or 17 percent) Region 4A (2,465 or 14 percent) and Region 3 (1,922 or 11 percent)

A total of 130 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 61 are recoveries and 4 are deaths.

Moreover, 227 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 117 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All laboratories were operational on September 25, 2021 but 2 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 2 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.07 percent of samples tested and 0.04 percent of positive individuals.
