DOH logs 5,790 new Covid-19 cases; 159 active cases among healthcare workers

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday logged 5,790 additional Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 1,143,963.

There were also 7,541 recoveries and 140 deaths.

Of the total number of cases, 4.8 percent (54,904) are active, 93.5 percent (1,069,868) have recovered, and 1.68 percent (19,191) have died.

Moreover, 90 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

As of May 14, 2021, there were 58,986 active cases recorded, with the majority of patients exhibiting mild symptoms (55,124; 93.5 percent) while 773 patients are in critical condition (1.3 percent).

Meanwhile, the DOH recorded a total 18,231 healthcare workers who were infected with Covid-19. Of these, 17,978 (98.6 percent) have recovered, 94 (0.5 percent) have died and 159 (0.8 percent) were active cases.

Of these active cases, 87 (54.7 percent) are mild cases, 36 (22.6 percent) are asymptomatic, 20 (12.6 percent) in severe condition, 9 (5.7 percent) in critical condition and 7 (4.4 percent) in moderate condition.

All laboratories were operational on May 14, 2021 while six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
