DOH: Covid situation ‘manageable’ with Metro Manila down to 493 cases daily, but don’t be complacent

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Friday said that the decline in the number of Covid-19 cases being logged by the Department of Health (DOH) is “no longer artificial.”

She also said the Covid situation is already “manageable” citing that the average daily cases in Metro Manila are now at 493 from over 5,000 cases daily when Delta variant struck the country.

Nationwide, Vergeire said that from 21,000 cases per day, it went down to
2,888.

Vergeire , however, urged the public not to be complacent so that the downtrend will continue.

She also noted that there are still areas with high intensive care unit utilization rate.

On Friday, the DOH recorded 2,376 additional number of Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,797,986.

There were also 2,109 recoveries and 260 deaths.

Of the total number of infections, 1.3 percent (37,377) are active, 97.1 percent (2,716,524) have recovered, and 1.58 percent (44,085) have died.

Thirty-two duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 24 are recoveries.

Moreover, 219 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All laboratories were operational on November 3, 2021 while 4 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 4 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 1.4 percent of samples tested and 0.9 percent of positive individuals.
