To formalize the implementation of the four convergence areas which were approved last May 15, 2018 thru the Joint Resolution No.10, series of 2018, the National Convergence Initiative – Sustainable Rural Development (NCI-SRD) in coordination with the RCI-TWG of Zamboanga Peninsula launches the Siocon-Lituban Watershed Convergence Area and presents the Convergence Area Development Plan (CADP) to the stakeholders on November 10, 2022 at Siocon Cultural and Exhibition Centre.
The said project was a joint undertaking by DA-DAR-DENR-DILG and NCI-SRD and was postponed for a year due to the onslaught of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Elaine Gener of NCI-SRD, presented the comprehensive plan which addresses the management of the watershed and the ecosystem in a holistic and sustainable manner through synchronization of inputs from the member agencies, the Local Government Units (LGUs), and all groups and institutions involved. Consequently, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by the heads of offices from DA-DAR-DENR-DILG as well as LGU Siocon for the implementation of the Siocon-Lituban Watershed Convergence Area. This will be considered a breakthrough and a government strategy that can contribute to inclusive growth and poverty reduction in the rural areas.
Moreover, DENR turned-over 5,000 Narra seedlings to the Local Government Unit of Siocon headed by Mayor Ceasar Soriano as a gesture of support and commitment to the community, distributed IEC materials and collaterals.
