Dipolog: Dapitan city marine protected area network expanded

Swearing-in of additional ten coastal barangays for expanded Dapitan City Marine Protected Area Network (DCMPAN) under which Mayor Seth Frederick “Bullet” P. Jalosjos the chairman last March 2, 2023 at Barangay Hall in Banbanan.

The goal and purpose of DCMPAN is to protect marine and coastal ecosystems that provide a wide range of benefits, including natural climate impact solutions through lightweight, adaptation and sustainability, supporting vital efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Mayor Bullet is happy to unite the ten barangays of DCMPAN responsible for ensuring connectivity and protection of areas needed and booster ecosystem functioning.

Mayor Jalosjos also thanked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for extending their support for the future and asked the people to work together and unite for the development of the city.

The Mayor urged everyone to unite because this is the only solution for the development of the city of Dapitan.

It is informed that this March 14, there will be a consultation between local authorities and stakeholders whose aim is to discuss marine turtle nets within the province of 11 towns and 2 cities of which there will be 28 recorded nesting sites by 2022.
