Dinagat Islands has three (3) new confirmed COVID-19 cases: one (1) from Cagdianao, one (1) from Libjo, and one (1) from San Jose.

All three tested positive via RT-PCR. They all underwent the test as part of our travel protocols for those entering Dinagat Islands, which is our way of protecting those inside the province from infection. If all of them only took tests that are not as accurate as RT-PCR, there would be a possibility that their results would come out as negative, with their entry into the province resulting to COVID-19 transmission in their households and close contacts. The RT-PCR test is also our means for protecting those who are entering the province. If we know their status, our health frontliners would be able to provide them proper isolation and treatment. For those who can’t afford the test, there is a 10-day quarantine option.

The new cases availed of the testing service in the Philippine Red Cross in Surigao City. They will be allowed entry to Dinagat Islands and will be transported to the Provincial Care and Containment Center (PCCC) for proper isolation, monitoring, and treatment upon arrival.
With this development, we now have a total of five (5) active cases of COVID-19. The other two (2) are from Loreto. Right now, there are no reports of COVID-19 infection WITHIN Dinagat Islands.
With this, let us maintain our observance of minimum health standards in our homes, workplaces, and communities. Let us continue to support each other in ensuring the prevention of COVID-19 infection in Dinagat Islands. Our communities are and will always be our frontline.
