All uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police(PNP) are now required to participate in  monthly firing range exercises to maintain their basic marksmanship skills.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. told reporters who gathered at the Quezon City Police District Firing Range at Camp Karingal on Tuesday that Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has laid down the basic marksmanship requirement to all policemen.

“This is continuous. This is also the program of our Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos that he is requiring all police personnel to be at the firing range at least once a month so that they will not forget their marksmanship skills,” Azurin said.

He added the training would always go back to the basics like gun safety procedures and proper handling of the gun outside of the firing range and while in the firing range.
