DepEd Surigao City Division marks 50 years of educational excellence

    The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Surigao City celebrated its 50th Founding Anniversary on October 11, 2024, marking half a century of commitment to education and development in the city.

    Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Marilou B. Dedumo, PhD, CESO V, led the celebration and delivered her State of the Division Address. She highlighted the division’s achievements and initiatives over the years, stressing the importance of collaboration between local government and DepEd in addressing educational challenges and advancing programs for the schools in Surigao City.

    City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II joined the celebration, along with Provincial Governor Lyndon S. Barbers, Provincial Vice Governor Eddie Gokiangkee Jr., City Vice Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra, City Councilor Karl Duane Casurra, and Liga ng mga Barangay Vice President Christopher Bonite.

    In his speech, Mayor Paul Dumlao underscored the significance of Surigao City advancing to the national level as a finalist in the National Literacy Awards, reflecting the city’s dedication to educational innovation and excellence. He commended the efforts of the educators, students, and the community in achieving this milestone, encouraging continued progress toward providing quality education for all Batang Surigaonons.

    The City Government of Surigao extends its heartfelt congratulations to the DepEd Surigao City Division on this momentous occasion and looks forward to more years of educational success.
