Davao de Oro: In compliance to the Department of Education (DepEd) Memorandum No. 34, s-2020 or the “Fifth Set of Policy Directives of DepEd Task Force Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro and the DepEd Regional Office XI declares suspension of Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) 2020 indefinitely.
During the DAVRAA Meet 2020 Press Conference held at the old session hall of the Provincial Capitol Cabidianan, Nabunturan last Monday. According to Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy “the athletes’ safety is our top priority”.
“There will be set of rules takes place in every hospital to make the healthcare personnel alert when it comes to system referral of the suspected cases if ever may happen”, he added.
Vice Governor Maria Carmen Zamora, an Action Officer of DAVRAA 2020, for her part, we will adhere to what will be the policy of the Department of Health (DOH) and the DepEd specially if the President declares a state of health emergency, then our understanding is that all directives is come from the national level.
“On the local note without CORONA, the respective committees are already drafting their measures and policies related to health preparedness” she added.
Meanwhile, according to Maria Ines Asuncion, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) of DepEd, “we ensure that the health of the athletes and coaches are checked before and upon arrival once the schedule will be set. Ensuring our kitchen staff are being oriented based on the food handling manual given to them and the nurses and medical team of DepEd would also be mobilize to join with the provinces.
“We also required the hygiene kits will be given to the athletes and all the delegations before coming. Coaches and athletes should adhere the protocols given to ensure the overall safety”, she added.
“The word given in the publication is just suspension indefinitely but there will be DAVRAA 2020,” the ARD added.
Due to recent outbreak of the COVID-19, the Province of Davao de Oro remains ready anytime in hosting this momentous event. “This is our golden moment to showcase what the talents of the Dabawenyos are,” Governor Uy.
