Davao rips Bulacan; Bicol wins

DEFENDING champion Davao Occidental-Cocolife whipped Koponang Lakan ng Bulacan, 84-70, on Saturday night for its second straight win in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup on tour at the Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City.

Emman Calo showed the way for the Tigers with 14 points, three rebounds and five assists, while Renzo Subido chipped in 13 points and three assists.

John Wilson also had 12 points as Davao Occidental scored a big follow up to a 90-87 squeaker over Pampanga Royce Hotel last Wednesday and hiked its mark to 11-3 won-lost for solo third place.

Bulacan reeled off to its third straight loss, counting a 74-78 defeat to Boracay last week, and fell to 8-6.

Home squad Bicol nipped Quezon City, 64-63, for its second victory in a row in the other match.

Paulo Castro notched 21 points to lead the Spicy Oragons, while John Olegario added 15 points and four rebounds.

Bicol improved to 4-9, while the Beacons dropped to 4-8.

Jason Ballesteros had a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds for Bulacan, while Leo Najorda and Joseph Celso combined for 21 points.

Tricky Peromingan got 13 points for Quezon City, which also drew 10 points from Jan Jamon.
