Davao Del Sur Readies Provincial Hospital For COVID-19 Patients

The Provincial Information Officer (PIO) for the Province of Davao Del Sur Sherwin Cesar reported that the provincial LGU has readied the Davao Del Sur Provincial Hospital (DSPH) to address any possible COVID-19 patients and/or outbreaks despite the declaration of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) by the provincial government of Davao Del Sur.

A total of 14 rooms in the aforementioned medical facility were converted into COVID isolation rooms where a total budget of 500,000 PHP was allocated for the repair and retrofitting of the isolation facilities. The provincial LGU also ensured that DSPH was provided the necessary equipment and supplies to prepare to receive COVID-19 cases.

“Gi repair gyud na siya ug limpyo giyud na siya para sa pangandam sa atong mga pasiyente sa COVID (We repaired and sanitized the facility to prepare for possible COVID-19 patients),” PIO Cesar said.

The hazards faced by the DDSPH medical health professionals and front liners in the field was also recognized by the Provincial Government of Davao Del Sur. That is why the Davao Del Sur LGU allocated a total of 11,000,000 PHP in budget for the hazard pay of DSPH staff.

“Gawas sa suweldo sa atong mga front liners diha sama sa mga nurses, doctors, CSU, janitor ug uban pa – karon tagaan pud na sila ug hazard pay. (Apart from the salary of our (DSPH) front liners who are our nurses, doctors, CSU, janitors and the rest – we will also give them hazard pay),” PIO Cesar said.

The Provincial Health Officer for Davao Del Sur Dr. Jonna Masongsong discussed the vital functions of DSPH when it comes to receiving and admitting COVID-19 patients for the Province of Davao Del Sur.

“Sa pagkakaron, inig tan-aw diha sa doctors sa DSPH kung kinahanglan admiton sa atuang hospital gina admit nato kung dili gani isaka pa gyud namo sa mas taas-taas na hospital … atong gina dala ang pasyente didto sa Southern Philippines Medical Center (As of now, the doctors as DSPH will be the ones to decide to admit a patient and if not we will refer the patients to a bigger medical facility … we will bring the patient to the Southern Philippines Madical Center),” Dr. Masongsong said.
